Monster Hunter Now is buzzing with excitement as Niantic introduces an experimental feature called Monster Outbreaks. The developers are actively seeking player feedback to refine this concept before its potential full implementation.
When Is the Monster Outbreaks Testing in Monster Hunter Now?
The testing window is scheduled for April 26th-27th with two one-hour sessions daily. Event times are 10:00-10:59 a.m. and 3:00-3:59 p.m. local time on both days.
Designated outbreak zones will feature clusters of formidable 8-star Black Diablos. The community challenge requires hunters to collectively defeat 100 Black Diablos within each specific outbreak location during the event window.
Participation requires Hunter Rank 11+, and all hunts must be conducted through in-person co-op - the party feature won't count toward progress.
Outbreak locations appear on maps with special icons. Tapping these reveals event details and includes an RSVP system to coordinate with fellow hunters.

The counter mechanics present an interesting dynamic - each hunter's participation counts individually toward the goal. Four hunters defeating one monster contributes four points to the total.
Successfully reaching the 100-kill benchmark unlocks bonus hunting time for the remainder of the event window. Black Diablos remains the exclusive monster during these outbreaks.
Completing the community challenge rewards all participants with 3 Black Diablos Tailcases, 3 Ridges, 3 Primeshells, 3 Marrows, and 2,000 Zenny. Those using the RSVP system also earn an exclusive Outbreak Test I Medal.
