Obtaining the Music Box
Like other cursed items, the Music Box has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its spawn is entirely random; there's no guaranteed method to obtain it. Only one Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to pick it up, and interact again to activate it.
Utilizing the Music Box
Several strategies involve the Music Box. Upon activation, it plays a tune. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its proximity. Within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. You can place the activated Box on the ground as a lure. The Box automatically stops playing after the song concludes. Note: Holding the Music Box depletes your sanity.
Triggering Hunts with the Music Box
The Music Box can initiate either a cursed or standard hunt, depending on these conditions:
- Throwing the active Music Box (not placing it down).
- Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Music Box.
- The ghost approaching the Music Box for over five seconds.
- The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Music Box.
For optimal use, carry additional tools like Smudge Sticks to manage potential hunts, allowing you to identify the ghost or complete objectives.
