While *DOOM: The Dark Ages* stole the show at Developer_Direct, it wasn't the only highlight. Koei Tecmo unveiled *Ninja Gaiden 4*, the eagerly awaited sequel to their renowned series, slated for release in fall 2025. The debut trailer promises an action-packed slasher experience, with ninja Ryu Hayabusa returning as the protagonist. *Ninja Gaiden 4* introduces innovative mechanics, including rapid traversal via wires and rails, as demonstrated in the gameplay trailer.
The game is set in a cyberpunk city, characterized by a relentless toxic rain. Players will battle through waves of modified soldiers and otherworldly creatures in a quest to break an ancient curse plaguing the megacity.
Alongside *Ninja Gaiden 4*, the presentation showcased a massive remaster of *Ninja Gaiden 2*. Already available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and included in the Game Pass catalog, this remaster has been ported to Unreal Engine 5 by Team Ninja. The team has overhauled character models, visual effects, and landscapes, integrating elements from newer series entries and adding three new playable characters.
Koei Tecmo's efforts have not gone unnoticed, and they rightfully deserve the spotlight from the gaming community.
