After a prolonged absence lasting over a year—interrupted only by an unexpected Echoes of Wisdom listing—Amazon has finally resumed direct sales of Nintendo-published Switch games in the U.S.
This ends a lengthy stalemate where Amazon avoided listing Switch 2 games under its own fulfillment, skipped preorders entirely, and relied solely on third-party sellers.
Even after Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2 in early 2025, Amazon remained quiet while competitors like Walmart and Best Buy eventually launched their preorder pages post-Nintendo Direct, albeit with minor delays.
Previously, only third-party Switch 2 titles such as Sonic x Shadow: Generations were available for direct Amazon orders. First-party launch games like Mario Kart World and Switch 2 editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were conspicuously absent—until now.
Though currently labeled as "Temporarily Out of Stock," Amazon is now accepting orders, signaling imminent restocks.
Preorders for the Switch 2 exclusive Donkey Kong Bananza are also live on Amazon, though Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokémon Legends Z-A remain unavailable for now.
What about the console itself? Nintendo Switch 2 units are sold out across all major retailers. Despite strong launch-day sales moving over 3.5 million units globally within four days, stock has been scarce ever since.

Earlier, Amazon's Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle page was flooded with unreliable third-party sellers. Those listings have since disappeared, replaced by a straightforward "Currently unavailable" notice. With Amazon reinstating first-party Switch 2 games, console stock updates may follow shortly.
Note that this shift affects only Amazon's U.S. operations. The retailer has continued normal Switch sales in other regions, like the UK, despite the ongoing tension between Nintendo and Amazon US.
