Nintendo's latest announcement isn't a new console, but a highly anticipated collaboration: a LEGO Game Boy! Read on to discover more about this exciting partnership.
Nintendo and LEGO Team Up Again
LEGO Game Boy Arriving October 2025
Nintendo has revealed its second LEGO console set, following the successful NES release. This time, it's the iconic Game Boy, launching in October 2025.
While exciting news for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a flurry of humorous comments about the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2. Many joked that the LEGO Game Boy is the closest thing to a new console reveal we've gotten.
Although details on the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that an announcement regarding the Switch's successor would be made within the current fiscal year (ending March 2025). Fans will have to remain patient for a little longer.
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy set is yet to be announced, but more information is expected in the coming weeks and months.
A History of Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations
Beyond the NES set, Nintendo and LEGO have previously collaborated on sets featuring beloved characters from franchises like Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda.
Last May 2024, a remarkable 2,500-piece LEGO set recreating the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild was released. This impressive set, priced at $299.99 USD, includes Princess Zelda and the Master Sword.
Two months later, a unique Super Mario set showcasing Mario and Yoshi from Super Mario World appeared. This set, available for $129.99 USD, cleverly depicts the in-game sprites, with a rotating crank animating Yoshi's leg movement.
