What can viewers anticipate from this showcase? Despite approaching the launch of its next-generation console, Nintendo still maintains a robust pipeline of Switch titles for its massive installed base of 150.86 million consoles. This substantial market continues attracting game developers and publishers alike.
Several confirmed Switch releases for 2025 may appear, including Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is also slated for Switch this year. The long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong, first announced six years ago for Windows, Mac, Linux and Switch, may finally get a release date - with expectations that all upcoming Switch games will maintain compatibility with the backwards-compatible Switch 2.
This Direct could serve as a farewell celebration for the 8-year-old Switch platform, potentially revealing Nintendo's final slate of exclusives before transitioning focus to the next-generation hardware. However, Nintendo may still have unexpected announcements waiting in the wings.
