Nintendo has exciting news for fans: its innovative alarm clock, Alarmo, is set for an expanded release in March 2025. Dive deeper into the details of this wider rollout and explore the unique features that Alarmo brings to the table.
Nintendo’s Latest Announcement
Not a Switch 2, but Alarmo
Nintendo's interactive alarm clock, Alarmo, is gearing up for a broader release in March 2025, as announced on the company's Twitter (X) account. In just a couple of months, Alarmo will be accessible to a wider audience, available at major retailers like Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other Nintendo-approved stores around the globe.
This expanded release means that the requirement for a Nintendo Online membership to purchase Alarmo will be removed, making it accessible to everyone. You can snag the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo for $99.99 USD.
While fans are thrilled about this news, the buzz around Nintendo's potential announcement of the Switch 2 continues. However, Nintendo has kept quiet on that front, focusing instead on the rollout of Alarmo.
Nintendo Alarmo Sold Out A Day After its Announcement
The excitement for Alarmo was evident right after its announcement on October 9, 2024. Nintendo reported an overwhelming response from fans, leading to a suspension of sales in Japan and a shift to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers on the My Nintendo Store.
"We have received a large number of orders for the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo, released on October 9th, and we are currently suspending sales on the My Nintendo Store. We are preparing to switch to a lottery sale for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to produce more units to meet demand."
In New York City, Alarmo sold out on the same day, but without resorting to a lottery system. The store promised updates on restocking.
Nintendo Alarmo Features
Launched in 2024, Alarmo is a delightful blend of functionality and fun, featuring sound effects from beloved Nintendo games like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3. With 42 scenes available initially, and more to be added through free updates including scenes from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Alarmo offers a personalized wake-up experience.
When you set a scene, a character from the chosen game appears on the clock's screen. As the alarm sounds, the character wakes up, accompanied by a gentle sound. Soon after, a visitor arrives, and you can quiet the alarm by waving your hand or moving, thanks to Alarmo's motion sensor. If you linger in bed, a more insistent visitor shows up, and the sound escalates until you rise.
Beyond its wake-up call, Alarmo enhances your bedroom ambiance with hourly chimes and Sleep Sounds themed to your selected scene. It also tracks your sleep patterns, monitoring the time spent in bed and your movements during sleep.
For those sharing their bed with others or pets, Nintendo suggests using Alarmo's Button Mode. Originally, a Nintendo Online membership was required to purchase Alarmo, but this restriction will be lifted with its expanded release in March 2025.
