Path of Exile 2 Endgame: A Comprehensive Guide to Rituals
Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame map events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revamped mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiation, mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, the reward system, and the Ritual Passive Skill Tree.
Identifying and Initiating Rituals
On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.
Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies and mechanics. These modifiers might introduce massive rat swarms, life-draining pools of blood, or other challenges.
To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A circular area will illuminate; remain within this zone to defeat all enemies and complete the Ritual. Leaving the illuminated area prematurely ends the event with no rewards. A map is considered complete only after all its Rituals are successfully finished.
The King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss
The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtained as a Ritual reward, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness and the Pinnacle Boss fight against the King in the Mists.
This boss shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (found in Freythorn). Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at a unique Ritual-exclusive item, and valuable currencies and Omen items.
Navigating the Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), offers modifiers to enhance Ritual rewards. These modifiers reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and increase unique currency drop rates.
The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing the King in the Mists' difficulty. Each Notable node requires defeating the King in the Mists at the increased difficulty.
Prioritize nodes like 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' for maximized rewards with minimal drawbacks. 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' are valuable later additions for increased high-value Omen and 'An Audience With The King' chances.
Understanding Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours
Completed Rituals yield Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for randomized Favours. More Altars completed equate to more Tribute and unlocked Favours. Early Favours offer basic items and currencies, while later ones unlock rare gear and high-tier currencies, including 'An Audience With The King'.
Omens: Powerful Consumable Modifiers
Omens are powerful consumable items found among Favour rewards. They modify the effects of other currency items. Examples include Omens of Annulment (restricting removed modifiers) and Omens of Alchemy (controlling added modifiers). Omens are highly sought after for crafting powerful items and can command high trading value.
Beyond Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies like Exalted Orbs and Vaal Orbs. The King in the Mists has a chance to drop unique items from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
