Fields of Mistria: Can You Actually Date the Romance Options?
While Fields of Mistria is lauded for its well-developed romance options and engaging storylines, the short answer is: not yet, at least not in the traditional sense. However, the existing romance system, even with its limitations, is incredibly compelling and justifies the game's price point.
The November 2024 update significantly enhanced the romance system, increasing the maximum relationship level from four hearts to six and adding new heart events for each romanceable NPC. These events, featuring cutscenes at two, four, and six hearts, provide significant relationship milestones. Further expansion to eight and ten hearts is planned for future updates, though no concrete dates have been given beyond the upcoming March 2025 update (which won't include increased heart levels or new events).

Despite the lack of explicit "dating" mechanics, Fields of Mistria's strength lies in its realistic and flirty dialogue. Even the early heart events, while potentially interpreted platonically, leave room for romantic interpretation, creating a rewarding sense of progression.
A significant addition in the last update was the Shooting Star Festival. This summer event allows players with four hearts with a chosen romance option to initiate a date-like experience. While a similar stargazing event with Caldarus doesn't currently trigger a date, this might change with the March 2025 update, which is slated to include Caldarus's expanded romance questline.
In conclusion, while official "dating" isn't currently implemented, Fields of Mistria offers a rich and engaging romantic experience. The existing content provides ample satisfaction until full dating mechanics are added.
