Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company's subsidiary, Pokémon Works, will assume responsibility for the development and future updates of Pokémon Sleep, previously managed by Select Button. This change was announced via an in-app notification on the Japanese version of Pokémon Sleep.
From Select Button to Pokémon Works
The transition from Select Button to Pokémon Works marks a significant shift in the game's development. The announcement, translated from Japanese, states that development and operation will gradually transfer. The impact on the global version of the app remains unconfirmed, as the news isn't yet reflected in the global app's news section.
Pokémon Works, a relatively new subsidiary established in March 2024, is a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Its representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, highlights a commitment to creating immersive Pokémon experiences.
Interestingly, Pokémon Works shares a Tokyo location with ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a collaborator on Pokémon HOME. Iwasaki confirmed Pokémon Works' contribution to Pokémon HOME development.
While the company's past Pokémon-related projects are limited, their stated goal is to enhance the reality and enjoyment of Pokémon interactions. The specific implementation of this vision within Pokémon Sleep remains to be seen.
