To catch Ditto in *Pokemon GO*, you first need to familiarize yourself with its latest disguises, which include a variety of different Pocket Monsters. Ditto, known as the Transform Pokemon, has been a part of the game for years, and its unique ability to hide as other creatures adds an exciting layer of challenge to the game, similar to the addition of Zorua.
The disguises Ditto uses change over time, but we have the most current list for you right here.
Pokemon GO Ditto Disguises List (March 2025)
As of March 2025, the latest Ditto disguises you need to be aware of to catch it in *Pokemon GO* are Bergmite, Bidoof, Goldeen, Gothita, Koffing, Numel, Oddish, Rhyhorn, Solosis, Spinarak, and Stufful. Their appearances are shown in the image above.
This means that if you encounter and catch any of these Pokemon as regular wild spawns on your in-game map, there's a chance they could be a hidden Ditto. The way to find Ditto in *Pokemon GO* is by catching it in its disguised form, after which it will revert back to its original form before the catch screen appears, allowing you to decide whether to keep or transfer it.
You'll know you've successfully caught a disguised Ditto in *Pokemon GO* when you see an "Oh?" pop up over your PokeBall. After that, the caught Pokemon will transform into a Ditto, and the elusive, gooey-looking Pocket Monster is finally yours.
How Rare is Ditto in Pokemon GO?
Even with knowledge of its latest disguises, Ditto remains relatively rare in *Pokemon GO*. However, there's one telltale sign that can help you identify a Ditto in disguise: its low CP. Ditto's CP is usually lower than the Pokemon it mimics. For example, if you're a Level 50 Trainer, Ditto's max CP would be around 940, while Goldeen's max CP is approximately 1302.
So, while Ditto is rarer than a standard common spawn in *Pokemon GO*, keeping an eye out for a lower CP can increase your chances of successfully identifying one when you encounter it.
How Rare Is a Shiny Ditto in Pokemon GO?
In *Pokemon GO*, any Ditto you encounter in the wild has a 1 in 64 chance of being a Shiny, making it very rare. This means that not only do you need to find a Ditto by identifying a Pokemon that's actually the purple blob in disguise, but you also need extra luck for that Ditto to be a different color.
The only way to improve your chances of finding a Shiny Ditto in *Pokemon GO* is by using spawn-increasing items like Incenses and Lure Modules to boost the number of spawns in general, hoping that some of those could be Ditto spawns, including the unique blue version.
Even if you don't have spare PokeCoins to spend on extra items, you can use your free Daily Adventure Incense to briefly and minimally increase your odds of finding a Ditto—or even a Shiny one—during its 15-minute runtime.
