A Pokémon player is experiencing unexpected viral fame due to an incessant barrage of calls from two persistent NPCs. A short video showcases the player trapped, their in-game phone relentlessly ringing.

Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls, typically friendly updates or rematch offers, have become a source of amusement for this player. However, this player's experience is far from typical.

Pokémon enthusiast FodderWadder posted a clip showing them cornered in a Pokémon Center. The video opens with a call from Wade, the Bug Catcher, detailing his training progress. Before the player can react, Youngster Joey calls, requesting a rematch on Route 30.

The relentless ringing continues. Joey's call repeats immediately, followed by another call from Wade, delivering the same message. This cycle repeats endlessly.

The reason for this incessant calling is unknown. While Youngster Joey is infamous for repetitive calls in Pokémon Gold and Silver, this level of persistence is unusual. FodderWadder suspects a save file glitch. Other players found the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs are simply eager for conversation.

Although phone numbers can be deleted, the game automatically answers incoming calls. FodderWadder eventually escaped the call loop, but only after struggling to find a moment between calls to access the menu, delete the numbers, and leave the Pokémon Center. This experience has understandably made them hesitant to register new numbers.
