Pokémon GO announces a Shadow Raid Day featuring Ho-Oh on January 19th, 2025—the first such event of the year. Trainers will have a renewed opportunity to capture this top-tier Fire-type Pokémon.
Shadow Raids, introduced in 2023, provide a unique way to obtain these powerful Pokémon variants after defeating Team GO Rocket. 2024 saw numerous engaging events, including the return of Shadow Moltres and Shadow Mewtwo. Ho-Oh, a Legendary Bird of Kanto, was originally added in 2020, with Shadow Mewtwo debuting at Pokémon GO Fest that same year. This event marks another exciting comeback for a powerful Pokémon.
Shadow Ho-Oh will star in Pokémon GO's Shadow Raid Day, running from 2 PM to 5 PM local time on January 19th. During this period, Ho-Oh will appear in five-star raids, with increased shiny rates. Players can obtain up to five free Raid Passes by spinning Gyms, increasing to a maximum of seven. A Charged TM can teach this Johto Legendary the powerful Charged Attack, Sacred Fire (130 power in Trainer Battles, 120 in Raids and Gyms).
