The former developers of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, now at Rebel Wolves, have unveiled their new project, *The Blood of Dawnwalker*. While the game isn't aiming for the full scale of a AAA title, the team's ambitions remain high. Rebel Wolves' founder, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, emphasized their goal to achieve AAA quality akin to The Witcher 3, but on a more manageable scale:
“We want AAA quality, like The Witcher 3—that’s our heritage. But as a small studio on our first project, we’re creating something more compact yet just as polished.”
Tomaszkiewicz noted that *The Blood of Dawnwalker* is expected to take 30-40 hours to complete, a significant contrast to the 100+ hours often spent on The Witcher 3, which could easily extend to 200-300 hours:
“Comparing anything to The Witcher 3, which was meant to last 100+ hours but often exceeded 200-300 hours, is crazy. But is size what makes a game AAA? Call of Duty is AAA without a massive campaign. So, does scale really matter?”
He also dismissed industry labels like “AAA” and “AAAA” as meaningless, suggesting that the focus should be on quality rather than arbitrary classifications.
*The Blood of Dawnwalker* is an action RPG where players control a half-vampire protagonist who has 30 days and 30 nights to save his loved ones. Despite the time limit, the game is designed to ensure a smooth and engaging experience. It is being built on Unreal Engine 5 and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
