Mastering Fishing in Rune Slayer: A Comprehensive Guide
Doubt Rune Slayer isn't an MMORPG? Its fishing mechanic proves otherwise! This guide clarifies the often-confusing fishing process.

Begin by accepting the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda's swimming area). He requests 5 "fish" in exchange for a Tackle Box.
Crucially, you'll need a fishing rod and bait. Guess who sells them? Simon!
Purchase a Wood Fishing Rod and at least 5 Worms (10 are recommended). The bait doesn't equip; it simply resides in your inventory. Each successful catch consumes one Worm. A minimum of 5 Worms seems necessary for catching anything. Keep them in your hotbar for easy tracking.
How to Fish: A Step-by-Step Guide
- Select your Wood Fishing Rod (placing it in your hotbar is sufficient).
- Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (Simon's pier is ideal).
- Watch the bobber. When it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.
Important Note: This isn't foolproof. You might catch nothing, or even junk. However, Simon counts junk as a successful catch (hence the "fish" quotation marks). Reel in five catches, regardless of their nature.
Once you have five catches, return to Simon to complete the quest and receive your Tackle Box. Store your remaining Worms within it to free up inventory space.
