HBO has exciting news for fans of The Last of Us—the much-anticipated Season 2 is set to premiere on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT. The new season will be available to stream on Max as well. With a total of seven episodes, viewers can look forward to a gripping continuation of the story. In celebration of the upcoming release, HBO has unveiled fresh character posters featuring Joel, Ellie, and Abby.
Set five years after the events of the first season, The Last of Us Season 2 follows Joel and Ellie as they settle into life with Joel's brother Tommy at their commune in Montana. This season will delve into the narrative of The Last of Us Part 2, the second game in the series, which should be familiar to fans of the game.
Joining the returning stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Season 2 introduces new characters portrayed by Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazine as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora. Notably, Tati Gabrielle will also star as the main protagonist in Naughty Dog's upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

The first season of The Last of Us was a monumental success for HBO, earning widespread acclaim and numerous accolades. Created by Craig Mazin of Chernobyl fame and Neil Druckmann, the head of Naughty Dog studio, the series clinched several Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and received nominations in five Primetime Emmy categories, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.
Given the success of the first season, HBO is eager to continue the journey with The Last of Us. Francesca Orsi from HBO has hinted at a potential four-season run for the series, indicating that Season 2 will not cover the entire story of The Last of Us Part 2.
