I find my interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket comes in waves. I'm always super involved when a new set arrives and keep playing while there are Emblems to earn for racking up 40-odd wins. Beyond that, I log in, open my packs, do a Wonder Pick for the fun of it, and forget about it until the next day. That cycle will begin anew when the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, arrives on March 27th.
This exciting expansion will introduce 110 new cards to TCG Pocket, including a mix of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and those stunning art cards we've all come to adore. The highlight, as hinted by the expansion's name, is the inclusion of Shiny Pokemon. If you're new to the concept, these are unique, differently colored versions of your favorite Pokemon. For instance, Lucario turns yellow instead of blue, and Pachirisu boasts an eye-catching pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can watch below, offers just a glimpse of what to expect, but let's dive in. A new Shiny Charizard Ex will join the fray, boasting 180 HP and a powerful attack called Steam Artillery that deals a whopping 150 damage. The catch? It requires five energy. Fortunately, its other move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy cards in one go, making it a bit more manageable.
Another exciting addition is the new Ex version of Lucario. Previously more of a supporting player in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this Aura Pokemon is now ready to take a more direct role in battles. With 150 HP, it may not seem groundbreaking, but its Aura Sphere attack is promising. For three Fighting Energy, it delivers 100 damage to the active Pokemon and an additional 30 to one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon.
The trailer also showcases other cards that, while not game-changers, are still fantastic additions. Shiny Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are all on their way and look fabulous. Additionally, there's a stunning Tatsugiri art rare that I simply must add to my digital collection.
