Ubisoft is setting sail to make Skull and Bones Year 2 the most thrilling chapter yet in its pirate multiplayer saga, with a treasure trove of new content on the horizon. This includes exciting new game modes, ships, encounters with a Kraken, and the long-awaited addition of land combat.
During a special Year 2 showcase that premiered yesterday, Ubisoft unveiled its ambitious plans for the coming year. The spotlight shone brightly on Season 3: Guts and Glory, set to launch this fall, which will finally introduce the land combat feature that fans have eagerly anticipated since the game's debut last February.
With Season 3, players will step onto solid ground for swordfights and gun battles, expanding the gameplay beyond the high seas. This new feature is part of the Rogue Warlord additions, where players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to recruit skilled Officers. A teaser video offered a glimpse of what's to come, but we'll need to wait until later this year for the full experience. While land combat is the headline feature of Skull and Bones Year 2, Ubisoft has plenty more in store for players in 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, which launches today, April 15, introduces a loot-enhancing item ascension feature, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Following that, Season 2: Oaths of War, set for summer 2025, promises Megaforts and the impressive Frigate large ships. Season 4: Eye of the Beast, arriving this winter, will bring the fearsome Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship into the fray.
If these updates pique your interest, you're in luck—Skull and Bones is hosting a free weekend from April 17 to 21. This is your chance to dive into pirate PvP action and possibly snag the game at a discounted rate (details to be announced).Skull and Bones set sail on February 16, 2024, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S. Our review awarded it a solid 7/10. While Ubisoft has kept official sales figures under wraps, they did mention achieving "record player engagement" shortly after launch.
