Smite 2's Open Beta Launches with Aladdin and More!
Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, has launched its free-to-play open beta across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Steam Deck. This launch coincides with a significant content update.
A year in the making and built using Unreal Engine 5, Smite 2 boasts enhanced visuals and refined combat mechanics. A revamped item shop offers greater flexibility, allowing players to equip items regardless of their chosen god's class. The core gameplay remains true to its predecessor: players select gods from diverse mythologies and engage in 5v5 battles.
This open beta introduces a wealth of new content, headlined by the addition of Aladdin, a brand-new god designed specifically for Smite 2. Aladdin's unique abilities include wall-running and a three-wish revival mechanic tied to his companion. His ultimate ability involves capturing opponents for a 1v1 duel.
Key Features of the Smite 2 Open Beta:
- New Gods: Aladdin (exclusive to Smite 2), Geb, Mulan, Agni, and Ullr join the roster.
- Returning Game Mode: The beloved 3v3 Joust mode makes a comeback.
- New Map: An Arthurian-themed map adds a fresh battleground.
- Updated Map: The Conquest map receives improvements.
- Alpha Game Mode: An alpha version of the Assault game mode is included.
- God Aspects: Optional enhancements for select gods.
- Platform Availability: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), and Steam Deck.
Titan Forge Games, the developers, have expressed confidence in Smite 2's superiority over its predecessor, highlighting improvements based on closed alpha feedback. They've also promised ambitious new content releases throughout 2025. While currently unavailable on Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns, the possibility of a future release on the Switch 2 remains open. Smite fans can now dive into the open beta and experience the evolution of this popular MOBA.
