Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see a significant change in their game library, with 22 titles being removed, including high-profile games like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the final playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. For Extra and Premium members, it also provides access to a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games.
As Push Square reports, the removal of these 22 games on May 20 marks the departure of two significant first-party Sony PS3 titles from the PS Plus Premium library.

Notably, both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store, making the PS Plus Premium streaming service the last bastion for playing these titles, unless you own them on a functioning PS3. Both games were added to the library at the end of 2024, and their removal less than a year later is particularly striking.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac Games after their work on Ratchet and Clank, is a trio of alternate history first-person shooters released for the PS3. Insomniac later shifted focus to projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
While it's rare for Sony to remove first-party games from the service, precedents exist, such as the unexpected removal of both Horizon titles — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West — in August 2024. However, those games remained available for purchase. In contrast, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will become inaccessible on modern consoles.
It's interesting to note that Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the more recent first-party PS4 title, InFamous: Second Son, is also being removed from PS Plus.
The Resistance series has been on hiatus for some time. In February, Insomniac's founder and outgoing president Ted Price mentioned efforts to develop Resistance 4, but the project did not proceed. Much like Guerrilla's Killzone series, the Resistance franchise has not seen new releases.
