South Park will not air a new episode this week as Season 27 of the Comedy Central series maintains its bi-weekly rhythm of satirical critiques targeting the Trump administration.
While previous South Park seasons adhered to a weekly schedule, audiences must now endure another week's wait as the show settles into its new cadence. In the meantime, Comedy Central is marking the iconic comedy’s anniversary today, August 13, by dubbing it South Park Day (via THR).
The celebration will feature a network programming schedule packed with beloved episodes such as "Casa Bonita," "Fishsticks," and "Make Love, Not Warcraft," alongside interviews with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and exclusive behind-the-scenes material.
Consequently, viewers must hold out until next week for the still-untitled third episode of South Park Season 27. Fans were left eagerly anticipating more after the season premiere, "Sermon on the Mount," which featured Parker and Stone delivering unequivocal jabs at Donald Trump's policies, persona, and more. Its July 23 debut also included Eric Cartman and other series regulars calling out Comedy Central's parent company, Paramount, following backlash over the studio's merger with Skydance and the controversial cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Season 27's second episode, "Got a Nut," arrived two weeks later, following a surprise one-week delay. This installment continued the show's sharp critique of the Trump administration while shifting its focus to U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem—the latter being the subject of a newly extended ending that animal lovers may find distressing.

By any measure, South Park Season 27 has been brutally incisive and seemingly unchecked, making the extended wait between episodes equally trying for its audience. The current season is slated for 10 episodes, though it remains uncertain whether the bi-weekly release pattern will continue.
Despite the longer intervals between new content, Season 27 stands as one of the show's most successful runs since its 1997 debut. "Sermon on the Mount" earned a place in television history by drawing 6 million viewers across Paramount platforms on premiere night, while live viewership for "Got a Nut" saw a 25 percent increase.
All eyes are now on what surprises Parker and Stone have planned for South Park Season 27, Episode 3. In the meantime, you can explore the creators' insights on "Sermon on the Mount" from their appearance at last month's San Diego Comic-Con. Additionally, you can learn about their recent $1.5 billion agreement with Paramount, which commits the duo to producing 50 new South Park episodes over the next five years.
