The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean the iconic quartet of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the much-anticipated return for Season 27, and it seems our beloved Colorado crew is tackling the state of the world in their signature irreverent style.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer that initially tricked viewers into thinking they were getting a dramatic sneak peek at a new drama series. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music set an ominous tone... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on-screen. Randy, sitting on Shelley's bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background, casually asks her if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, “Because I think it could really help you.” This classic South Park humor quickly dispels any notion that this is anything other than the show we all know and love.
Following this humorous interlude, the trailer returns to showcasing intense action sequences, hinting at several significant and topical events in the upcoming season. Expect to see scenes involving major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, an appearance by P. Diddy, and, as fans might predict, another conflict with Canada, echoing themes from the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023’s South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024’s South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997. This long-running series continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of satire, humor, and social commentary.
