Star Wars: Hunters has announced its shutdown before even completing its first year, yet it will still celebrate its one-year anniversary before closing its doors for good. But is celebrating a dying game's anniversary truly worth it? It's a bittersweet moment for fans who hoped for more from this Star Wars-themed title.
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are set to officially shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the road just nine months after its launch. Players have been given a few extra weeks to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is rolling out one final content update on April 15th, introducing the last new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled, signaling the beginning of the end.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. If you have any unspent Crystals, now is the time to use them, as there will be no refunds offered.
It Isn’t Shocking
While it's disappointing, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters might not come as a surprise to many. The game faced numerous delays since its announcement in 2020, with beta tests limited to the SEA and ANZAC regions. The lack of major console support and a lukewarm reception at launch contributed to its downfall. From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity to capitalize on the rich tapestry of Star Wars characters. Instead of featuring iconic legends from the galaxy, it opted for generic original characters, which might have alienated fans expecting more familiar faces.
If you've uninstalled the game but are considering one last playthrough, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
