Zynga, the publisher behind *Star Wars Hunters*, has announced the full shutdown of the game just nine months after its initial release, effectively canceling plans for a previously announced PC version on Steam. Developed by NaturalMotion, this free-to-play, team-based battle arena title launched in June 2024 across Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android platforms. Despite a promising start and a solid Star Wars: Hunters review from IGN scoring 7/10—praising its lighthearted PvP action as “impressive for a bit, but probably not a place you’ll want to hang around for too long”—the game will see its final days in late 2025.
In an official statement, Zynga revealed that the last content update for *Star Wars Hunters* will roll out on April 15, 2025, with the game remaining accessible to players until servers go offline on October 1, 2025. “We understand this news may be disappointing and want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly,” the company stated. “Your passion and dedication to the game and its community have meant the world to us, and we are committed to providing visibility and updates throughout the transition process.”
Final Updates and In-Game Events
To give players more time to enjoy the experience, Zynga is extending Season 5 by three weeks, launching on March 25. This extension includes re-runs of popular events and shop bundles, along with an extended Ranked Season to allow competitors a better chance to reach the top Kyber 1 rank.
The final update on April 15 will be released at no cost, and in-game purchases will be disabled across all platforms. As a farewell gift, players will gain immediate free access to Tuya, the new Support Hunter joining the roster. Additional in-game content will also be included, and the final Ranked Mode leaderboard will remain active, with all battlefields and game modes rotating until the end.
On October 1, 2025, online servers will permanently shut down, rendering *Star Wars Hunters* unplayable on all devices.
PC Version Scrapped
Notably absent from the announcement was any mention of the planned Steam release, which had been expected to enter early access this year. The game’s Steam store page now displays a notice stating it is “no longer available on the Steam store,” confirming the cancellation of the PC launch.
This marks a significant shift for Zynga, a Take-Two Interactive subsidiary known for mobile hits like *FarmVille*, *Words with Friends*, and *CSR Racing*. *Star Wars Hunters* was poised to be the company’s first console title and the first Zynga-published game slated for PC. Back in November, Yaron Leyvan, Executive Vice President of Games at Zynga, expressed excitement about expanding to PC, calling it a “milestone” for the studio and a response to fan demand.
The Future of Star Wars Games
While *Star Wars Hunters* comes to an end, the Star Wars gaming universe remains active with several titles in development. Respawn Entertainment is working on the third installment of the *Star Wars Jedi* series, and Bit Reactor is preparing to unveil a turn-based tactics game during Star Wars Celebration 2025. Fans looking for new galactic adventures will soon have fresh options to explore.
