Star Wars KOTOR Remake: Developer Confirms All Planned Features Still in Development

Saber Interactive has reaffirmed that all its previously announced games remain in active development, despite the lack of updates on high-profile titles like the much-anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) remake. Following the recent announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits took to Twitter to reassure fans that the studio's entire slate of announced projects is still moving forward.

"Saber Interactive stands as one of the largest independent developers globally," Willits stated. "We are diligently working on a diverse range of games across various genres. Every project we've talked about is still in development, and we will share updates as soon as we have exciting news to announce."

The most prominent project referenced in Willits’ statement is undoubtedly the KOTOR remake, a project shrouded in mystery since its announcement in 2021. The game has experienced a tumultuous development cycle, changing hands several times, with reports of halted and restarted development, yet it has not seen the light of day even after four years.

In April 2024, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed that the KOTOR project was taken along during the studio's split from Embracer Group, and that active development continues. "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this," Karch said at the time. "It's been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations."

Willits' recent statement, coming almost a year after Karch's, reinforces this commitment. However, despite these assurances, no new footage or details beyond the initial announcement trailer have been released to the public.

Saber Interactive is also busy with other projects, including titles slated for release in 2025 such as John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, though specific release dates have not yet been announced. The studio is also developing a new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender title.
