Ubisoft has officially announced that Star Wars: Outlaws will be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, though it won't be a launch title. Instead, fans will have to wait until September 4, a few months after the new Nintendo handheld's release on June 5.
Set between the iconic events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Outlaws follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal on the run from a cartel's death mark. Our review rated it a 7 out of 10, praising its engaging intergalactic heist adventure and expansive exploration, but noted drawbacks including simplistic stealth mechanics, repetitive combat, and some launch bugs.
While Ubisoft kept details minimal, the confirmation of the game's release date on the Nintendo Switch 2 is a significant update to the Switch 2 Games List. This news arrives amid ongoing pre-order uncertainties for American and Canadian gamers, as Nintendo evaluates the effects of new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration.
The announcement came during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, titled A Pirate’s Fortune. In this expansion, Kay Vess teams up with Hondo Ohnaka to confront Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune is slated for release on May 15.
