While Split Fiction boasts a straightforward co-op adventure, hidden gems await those willing to explore beyond the main path. These optional Side Stories, though inessential to the main plot, offer some of the game's most memorable moments. This guide reveals their locations.

Chapters 2 through 5 contain 12 Side Stories (three per chapter). While optional, completing them unlocks an achievement and provides some truly unforgettable experiences, such as a pig transformation sequence or a deadly game show challenge. Here’s how to find each one:
Chapter 2
- Legend of the Sandfish: Appears naturally after completing the "Rush Hour" section. Unmissable.
- Farmlife: Located in the "Streets of Neon" section, after hopping a small barrier and before the left elevators.
- Mountain Hike: Found in "Big City Life," near the Port-A-Pottys. Have Mio enter a Port-A-Potty, then use Zoe to throw her to the opposite ledge with the ladder. Have Mio drop the ladder for access.
Chapter 3
- Train Heist: In "Lord Evergreen," on a ledge reachable via wall-running during the plank section.
- Gameshow: Found in "Walking Sticks of Doom," on a platform after the side-scrolling section; requires minor platforming.
- Collapsing Star: Located in "Halls of Ice," on the main path through the palace; difficult to miss.
Chapter 4
- Kites: At the end of the long tube in "Toxic Tumblers."
- Moon Market: In "Test Chamber," on a left-hand ledge after the crane sequence, accessible via platforming.
- Notebook: The final Chapter 4 Side Story, found in "Soaring Desperados." After obtaining the jetpack, avoid the giant wheel and locate it on the left.
Chapter 5
- Slopes of War: In "Water Temple," after hatching dragons, solve the lever puzzle to the left of the golden balls.
- Space Escape: Found in "Craft Temple," after defeating the dragon. Launch Mio to a ledge using her glide and Zoe’s roll; then have Mio drop a column for Zoe to climb.
- Birthday Cake: In "Treasure Temple," after completing the soul puzzle, it's located to your left.
Completing all 12 Side Stories unlocks the "Bookworms" achievement.
