Takahiro Sakiyama, the IP and Game Director for the Suikoden Gensho series, explained that extensive debugging towards the project's end necessitated a review and subsequent delay.

Tatsuya Ogushi, the Game Director for Suikoden 1 and 2 HDR, emphasized a methodical approach, stating, "Rather than rushing forward, we took time to assess the situation thoroughly. After discussions with Sakiyama on the quality benchmarks, it was evident that we had many areas requiring further refinement."
