Suikoden STAR LEAP aims to deliver a console-like experience on mobile. In a March 4, 2025 Famitsu interview, the development team shed light on their approach. Producer Shinya Fujimatsu explained Konami's decision to launch on mobile: "We wanted as many people as possible to experience Suikoden, so we chose mobile as the most accessible platform. But we're committed to preserving the true spirit of Suikoden, making this a numbered entry worthy of the name."

The team's ambition is clear: to create a game that boasts console-level visuals, sound, and storytelling, all while maintaining the ease of access inherent to mobile gaming.

Fujimatsu highlights the unique blend of war and friendship at the heart of Suikoden: "In Suikoden STAR LEAP, it's crucial to depict the story of the new 108 Stars, embodying the core of Suikoden Genso."
