We may have an early glimpse at the title for The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel, thanks to an apparently premature NBCUniversal press release.
As noticed by sharp-eyed observers online, NBCUniversal issued a press release detailing its Upfront Showcase lineup, which initially included mention of "Super Mario World" among upcoming Universal Pictures and Illumination films destined for Peacock streaming.
Universal quickly revised the release, removing all references to Mario entirely.

Notably, the original NBCUniversal statement grouped "Super Mario World" with "Shrek and Minions" - we know those refer to Shrek 5 and Minions 3, suggesting this might represent a placeholder rather than the final Mario sequel title. After all, neither the new Shrek nor Minions film would simply be called "Shrek" or "Minions."
That said, "Super Mario World" carries more specificity than a generic "Super Mario" or "Super Mario Bros." title, making it ripe for speculation. The name would logically fit the sequel, given the franchise's history.
