Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki showcased a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has officially denied any involvement. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's statement confirming the images and videos are unofficial. The company explicitly stated that Genki's claimed Switch 2 hardware was not provided by Nintendo.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by presenting the mockup and allegedly revealing a "real" Switch 2 unit, along with a purported release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup of the console.
This contradicts Nintendo's official silence on concrete Switch 2 details. While Nintendo has confirmed backwards compatibility with the original Switch, the lack of an official announcement has fueled speculation. Given Genki's claims, Nintendo may feel pressured to release official information about the Switch 2 sooner rather than later.
