Ace Attorney Investigations Collection ($39.99)
The Nintendo Switch has given us second chances at some classic titles, and now the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection brings us Miles Edgeworth's adventures. This collection cleverly builds on previous storylines, with the second game enhancing the first. Seeing things from the prosecution's perspective is a refreshing change. While the gameplay remains largely the same – searching for clues, questioning witnesses – the unique presentation and Edgeworth's character add a new dimension. The pacing might feel uneven at times, but fans of the main series will appreciate this sub-series. If the first game feels slow, persevere – the second is significantly better.
Bonus features include an art and music gallery, a story mode, and the option to switch between original and updated graphics/soundtracks. A helpful dialogue history is also included. The two games offer a compelling contrast, making this a fantastic package. With this release, almost every Ace Attorney game is now available on Switch. If you've enjoyed the other titles, this is a must-have.

Gimmick! 2 ($24.99)
A sequel to Gimmick! is a surprising but welcome addition. Developed by Bitwave Games, this faithful sequel retains the original's challenging physics-based platforming. Six lengthy levels will test your skills, but an easier mode is available for those seeking a less demanding experience. The protagonist's star attack remains central to gameplay, serving as a weapon and puzzle-solving tool. Collectibles add replay value, unlocking customization options.
Expect a tough challenge, even on the easier setting. The game's charming visuals and music help mitigate the frustration of frequent deaths. Gimmick! 2 successfully builds upon the original without losing its identity. Fans of the first game and challenging platformers will be thrilled. However, casual players should be warned – this game is no walk in the park.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)
Valfaris: Mecha Therion takes a bold step, shifting from action-platforming to a shoot 'em up style. Surprisingly, it works well, though the Switch's hardware might struggle at times. The intense action, soundtrack, and visuals are still enjoyable. The weapon system adds a strategic layer, requiring players to manage their gun energy, melee weapon, and a rotating third weapon. Mastering this rhythm is key to success.
While performance might be better on other platforms, the Switch version delivers a solid experience. It maintains the original Valfaris' atmosphere while offering a unique gameplay twist.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby – Party Dash ($44.99)
A licensed game, naturally appealing to fans. Umamusume: Pretty Derby – Party Dash delivers plenty of fan service, with strong writing and meta-systems rewarding dedicated players. However, non-fans might find limited appeal in the repetitive mini-games. The limited variety and shallow gameplay hinder its overall enjoyment, even for fans.
While visually impressive, the game's lack of depth prevents it from being a truly great party game. Fans might find the unlockables engaging, but the limited content could lead to quick burnout.

Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection ($9.99)
This collection showcases Sunsoft's lesser-known 8-bit titles. It includes Firework Thrower Kantaro’s 53 Stations of the Tokaido, Ripple Island, and The Wing of Madoola, all fully localized for the first time in English. The package includes save states, rewind, display options, and art galleries.
The games themselves vary in quality. 53 Stations is challenging, Ripple Island is a decent adventure, and The Wing of Madoola is ambitious but uneven. While not top-tier NES games, they offer a unique glimpse into Sunsoft's history. Fans of retro gaming and Sunsoft will appreciate this collection.
