The Dying Light: Retouched update is set to deliver a major visual and audio overhaul to Techland’s original zombie parkour experience on PC and consoles tomorrow, breathing new life into the 10-year-old post-apocalyptic franchise. Enhanced textures, improved lighting, and a fully remastered audio experience will elevate gameplay for fans on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. However, Nintendo Switch owners will not be able to experience these upgrades, as the Retouched update is not coming to the platform.

When asked about the possibility of a future Retouched update for Nintendo Switch, Techland confirmed it is not in development. “The Dying Light: Retouched Update is not coming to Nintendo Switch,” a studio representative stated.
Dying Light originally launched on Nintendo Switch in 2021 as part of the all-inclusive Platinum Edition. While sales figures remain undisclosed, the release was notably impacted by a ban in Germany that continues to block digital availability on the Switch eShop across Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Hopes for a Dying Light: Retouched update arriving on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 are also unfounded. At this time, the only way to play Dying Light on Nintendo’s next-generation console is through backward compatibility. Techland has confirmed it has no plans for a dedicated Switch 2 port of the original game.
“Our focus right now is entirely on delivering Dying Light: The Beast on August 22, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S,” the studio shared. “We have no announcements regarding Nintendo Switch 2 at this time.”
As a result, Nintendo fans’ access to the Dying Light series remains limited to the original game’s Platinum Edition on the current Switch. Dying Light 2: Stay Human – Cloud Version was announced for the platform in 2021 but has yet to release, despite the full version launching on other systems in 2022. There is still no update on whether or when it might become available.
Meanwhile, Dying Light: The Beast, the upcoming standalone expansion that returns players to the role of original protagonist Kyle Crane, will also skip Nintendo platforms at launch. While Techland’s Franchise Director Tymon Smektała expressed interest in bringing The Beast to Switch 2 in the future, no concrete plans have been announced.
Dying Light: Retouched will go live tomorrow, bringing a wide range of quality-of-life and technical improvements to the beloved original title. For full details on the update, visit the official developer blog [here]. You can also revisit our original 8.5/10 review of Dying Light [here].
