Feral Interactive and The Creative Assembly are preparing to launch a major expansion for Total War. Titled Total War: EMPIRE – A New World, this release is notable for being exclusive to mobile platforms. The expansion is scheduled for release on September 18th.
Hundreds of hours of new gameplay await
The update introduces new campaigns, balance adjustments, expanded unit rosters, and a range of naval units. The most significant addition is the unlocking of 44 new playable factions, increasing the total to 55.
Players can now command every non-rebel nation in the Grand Campaign from the start. This includes taking control of the United States, the Mughal Empire, Gran Colombia, or the Barbary States right away.
Each of these factions has received expanded unit selections and tweaks to make smaller nations more viable in the late game. Naval combat has been bolstered with 14 new vessels, ranging from smaller craft like dhows and light galleys to the massive 140-gun Santísima Trinidad, a dominant warship of the late 18th century.

Two new campaigns join the Total War: EMPIRE – A New World expansion
The Late Start Campaign advances the Grand Campaign map to 1783, deep in the Age of Revolution. This era sees colonial powers like Britain and France struggling to maintain control over their overseas territories.
The Warpath Campaign, previously a PC DLC, is making its mobile debut. It focuses on five Native American factions battling in a single-theatre conflict. The Iroquois, Cherokee, Plains Nations, Pueblo Nations, and the Huron are also fully playable in the Grand Campaign for the first time.
Total War: EMPIRE – A New World is launching exclusively on mobile, a departure from the franchise's history of prioritizing PC for expansions. The base game is available on the Google Play Store, with A New World priced at $6.99 as an in-app purchase.
