According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for the popular game, *Hogwarts Legacy*. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year, coinciding with the release of a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came this week, with sources indicating that the content volume was not deemed sufficient to justify the proposed price, as per Bloomberg's findings. Warner Bros. did not provide a comment in response to Bloomberg's inquiry.
This cancellation comes amidst a broader restructuring of Warner Bros.' gaming division, spurred by ongoing financial difficulties. Earlier in the year, Warner Bros. also canceled the anticipated Wonder Woman game and shut down Monolith Productions, the studio behind it, along with WB San Diego and MultiVersus developer, Player First Games. Additionally, layoffs occurred at Rocksteady Studios just last September.
Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the significance of *Hogwarts Legacy* and the Harry Potter franchise as key assets. The company has affirmed that a sequel to *Hogwarts Legacy* is a top priority, reflecting their strategic shift towards focusing on fewer but larger franchises. The original game has achieved remarkable success, selling over 30 million copies worldwide.
