How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To embark on a romantic journey with Caldarus in Fields of Mistria, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Once you complete the offering, a dramatic cutscene unfolds where the Mines Priestess warns you to leave or risk being sealed yourself. As your health dwindles, Caldarus heroically intervenes, transforming into his human form and gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods.
With Caldarus now in human form, you can engage in daily conversations and gift-giving, just like with other romanceable NPCs in Mistria. To further your connection, you must use the Dragon’s Breath spell to unlock his temple in the Deep Woods permanently on your map.
Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

Upon unlocking Caldarus as a romanceable character with the March 2025 update, he begins with a heart level of six, which is the current cap. Unfortunately, there are no heart events available for Caldarus at this time, though future updates promise more content. Currently, you can enjoy two key cutscenes: a dream sequence introducing Mistria's magic system and another where Caldarus rescues you from being sealed after breaking the Fire Seal, revealing his human form and retreating to recover.
A special opportunity arises with the Shooting Star Festival on Summer 28, where you can go on a real date with Caldarus.

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in Fields of Mistria and offers a chance to take any romanceable NPC with at least four hearts on a date to the Summit. Given Caldarus' starting heart level of six, you're automatically eligible to attend with him. To make this happen, gift him a Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet up afterwards to confirm your date. During the event, Caldarus shares insights into the stars and Mistrian traditions, leading to a deep conversation about soul connections and past lives. The evening ends with an invitation to watch the stars from his temple.
