Baldur's Gate 3's hidden depths continue to be unearthed. Larian Studios' RPG is steadily revealing its many secrets, thanks in part to dedicated dataminers.
Datamining efforts have previously uncovered numerous secrets, including a particularly intriguing ending. This dark ending has resurfaced during testing of the game's eighth major patch. This ending allows the player character to forcefully remove and destroy the illithid parasite without suffering harm. A subsequent choice presents itself: depart with companions, or leave them behind.
The community speculates that this ending will be fully implemented with the release of patch eight.
Recent layoffs at BioWare, the studio behind Dragon Age: The Veilguard, have fueled industry-wide discussions. In response, Michael Daus, Larian Studios' publishing director, took to social media to address the issue. He emphasized the importance of valuing employees and advocated for leadership to shoulder the burden of restructuring, rather than resorting to widespread layoffs between or after projects. He stressed the critical role of retaining institutional knowledge for future endeavors.
