Progressing through Avowed introduces increasingly formidable foes. To maintain combat effectiveness, upgrading your equipment is crucial. This guide details how to enhance your weapons and armor.
Upgrade Location: The Workbench
Weapon and armor upgrades are performed at Workbenches (pictured above), located at Party Camps. These camps are established near Adra Waystones scattered throughout the world. Interact with a Waystone and select the option to set up camp. These locations are marked on your map with a tent icon, enabling fast travel.
Understanding Weapon and Armor Levels
Equipment power is determined by two factors: Quality and additional upgrade tiers.
Quality is represented by a numerical value, color rarity (Green, Blue, Purple, Red, Gold), and an adjective. This directly correlates to enemy levels in the Living Lands. Using lower-quality gear against stronger enemies significantly reduces effectiveness. Conversely, matching or exceeding enemy Quality provides significant combat advantages.
Quality Levels:
- Common: Green, Level I
- Fine: Blue, Level II
- Exceptional: Purple, Level III
- Superb: Red, Level IV
- Legendary: Gold, Level V
Beyond Quality, each item has three additional upgrade tiers (+0 to +3). While less impactful than Quality increases, these still boost stats and must be maxed before upgrading Quality.
Prioritizing Upgrades: Unique vs. Standard Gear
Avowed features two equipment types: standard and unique. Standard gear is readily found or purchased, while unique items are named, often rewarded through quests or dropped by bosses. Unique gear offers superior stats, perks, and can reach Legendary Quality, unlike standard gear which maxes at Superb.
Prioritize upgrading unique weapons and armor, reserving resources for these superior items. Standard gear serves as temporary replacements and can be sold or salvaged for upgrade materials.
