The Chinese Room has recently shared exciting updates about Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, particularly focusing on the vampire hunters known as the Information Awareness Bureau (IAB). This faction operates covertly on a shadow budget, without official government backing, and hunts vampires, referred to as "Hollow Ones," under the guise of "training exercises" and "counter-terrorism efforts."
Leading the IAB in Seattle is Agent Baker, a disciplined and pragmatic leader known as "The Hen" among her followers. Her mission is to eradicate vampires permanently. Baker's approach involves meticulous investigation of strange occurrences and deep dives into historical data to uncover the connections to the hidden vampire society. Her unwavering authority and dedication make her a formidable adversary.
The hunters of the IAB are highly coordinated, guarding their base with both external and internal security measures. Confronting them alone is daunting, as they work in teams, use spotlights, and maintain communication through portable radios. In combat, they wield thermic batons that can bypass defensive maneuvers and deploy phosphorous grenades to flush enemies out of cover. Their sniper crossbows shoot explosive bolts that can cause severe damage if not quickly removed.
Despite their prowess, the hunters have vulnerabilities. They are physically weaker than ghouls and vampires, making them susceptible to certain counter-strategies. For instance, players with the Fire skill can catch grenades or bolts mid-flight and hurl them back at the hunters. Additionally, members of the Ventru clan can use their powers to possess an enemy, turning them against their own team.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to launch in the first half of 2025, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This eagerly anticipated game promises to deliver a thrilling experience with its deep narrative and strategic gameplay elements.
