Poncle, the UK-based developer behind the immensely popular roguelike, Vampire Survivors, has offered a further update on the anticipated PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 ports. Following the May releases of the game's latest expansion and recent update, the developer shed light on the progress.
Initially launched in December 2021, Vampire Survivors, a critically acclaimed top-down shooter, has already conquered the Nintendo Switch. Its arrival on PS4 and PS5 was announced in April, slated for a summer 2024 release. While a precise release date remains elusive, Poncle assures fans it will be revealed shortly, citing the unfamiliarity of PlayStation's submission processes and the complexities of implementing the Trophy system as reasons for the extended development time. The studio aims to seamlessly integrate the extensive achievement system, mirroring the over 200 achievements available on the Steam version.
The anticipation is palpable, evidenced by enthusiastic responses on Twitter, with many players expressing excitement for the prospect of earning the coveted Platinum trophy. This prestigious in-game reward, granted upon completion of all achievements, represents a significant accomplishment in the PlayStation gaming community.
The recent release of "Operation Guns," a DLC inspired by Konami's Contra franchise, adds another layer of excitement. This expansion, released May 9th, introduces Contra-themed biomes, 11 new characters, 22 automatic weapons, and iconic musical tracks from the Contra series. A subsequent hotfix, 1.10.105, addressed bugs in both the base game and the new DLC, further refining the player experience. The summer 2024 release window remains in place for the PlayStation versions.
