As January progresses, Pokemon GO enthusiasts have much to look forward to, especially with the upcoming Spotlight Hour event scheduled for Tuesday. With numerous events already underway, players should ensure they have ample Pokeballs and berries at the ready for this exciting opportunity.
Pokemon GO is renowned for its monthly lineup of events, ranging from Max Mondays and Community Days to the weekly Spotlight Hours. These Spotlight Hours focus on a specific Pokemon, offering players the chance to catch them and potentially obtain their Shiny variants. Here's what you need to know about the upcoming event.
Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour
The Pokemon GO Spotlight Hour is set to kick off on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. This week's spotlight features both Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb, providing players with a unique opportunity to catch Shiny versions of these Pokemon. Both variants offer significant advantages, especially when dealing extra damage is crucial.
Given that this Spotlight Hour includes two Pokemon, players should prepare by stocking up on Pokeballs, Berries, and Incense. These items will enhance the chances of catching and evolving these Pokemon, including their Shiny forms. It's also essential to ensure you have enough space in your Pokemon storage, as you'll be catching many of these Pokemon and may not want to pause to transfer during the event.
Voltorb, listed as #100 in the Pokedex, originates from the Kanto Generation 1 and can be traded and transferred to Pokemon Home. Catching Voltorb yields 3 candies and 100 Stardust. This Pokemon is the first stage of a two-stage evolution, requiring 50 candies to evolve into Electrode. With a maximum CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, Voltorb is effective for dealing damage when players are in a bind.
As an Electric-type Pokemon, Voltorb is vulnerable to Ground-type attacks, taking 160% damage, while it resists Electric, Flying, and Steel-type moves, taking only 63% damage. The optimal moveset for Voltorb includes Spark and Discharge, delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO, with performance boosted in rainy conditions. Voltorb also has a blue Shiny variant.
Hisuian Voltorb, also #100 in the Pokedex, belongs to the Voltorb family and shares the Kanto Generation 1 origin, with similar trading and transfer capabilities to Pokemon Home. It evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 candies, offering 3 candies and 100 Stardust upon capture. Like its counterpart, Hisuian Voltorb has a max CP of 1141, 111 Defense, and 109 Attack, and is also an Electric-type Pokemon.
Hisuian Voltorb differs in its damage interactions, taking increased damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison-type moves (160% damage), while resisting Grass, Steel, and Water-type attacks (63% damage), and significantly reducing damage from other Electric-type moves (39% damage). The best moveset for Hisuian Voltorb is Tackle and Thunderbolt, providing 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO, with enhanced performance in partly cloudy and rainy weather. This Pokemon features a Shiny variant with a black body, distinguishing it from its orange standard form.
