The eagerly awaited return of the Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft has hit a snag due to unexpected issues, causing a delay in its launch. Originally set to relaunch on January 14, 2025, with both original and new rewards, fans will have to wait a bit longer before diving back into this pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024. While World of Warcraft aims to have Plunderstorm up and running before the end of January 14, no specific new launch time has been announced.
The event's delay was announced following an extension of the maintenance period from six to eight hours, with servers initially planned to be back online by 3 PM PST. However, as stated by WoW community manager Kaivax in a forum post, "unexpected issues" have pushed back the launch further than expected. In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are back online, allowing players to engage in other in-game activities such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring other content in The War Within.
When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?
- Before the end of January 14, after "unexpected issues" are resolvedThe second iteration of Plunderstorm brings new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged in. It's speculated that these additions might be the root of the current issues. World of Warcraft is working diligently to resolve these problems, ensuring fans can soon enjoy the thrill of plundering once again.
Despite the delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are still available. Players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST. Notably, the streamer doesn't need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to make progress on this Drop, offering fans a way to engage with the community and earn rewards while waiting for the game mode to go live.
