Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced
Microsoft has officially announced the next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, marking the first Xbox game showcase of 2025. This will be the third installment of the annual event, following the successful showcases in January 2023 and 2024.
Initially rumored on January 9th, the announcement confirms the event will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.
Confirmed Games for Xbox Developer Direct 2025:
The showcase will feature at least three highly anticipated titles:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, this game was initially revealed in June 2024 and showcased a playable demo at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 launch is currently rumored.
- South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is still pending.
More Than Just Three Games?
Past Xbox Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and included multiple game reveals. Given this precedent, the 2025 event is likely to feature additional surprises beyond the three confirmed titles. Previous showcases have included titles like Avowed, Ara: History Untold, and Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, suggesting a potential for similar breadth in this year's event.
