Oscar Isaac Confirmed for Star Wars Celebration, Rumors Swirl of His Galactic Return

Author : Finn Update:May 02,2025

Excitement is building among Star Wars fans as Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac is set to make an official appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, taking place from April 18 to 20. The announcement was made through the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, sparking speculation about the return of Isaac's character, Poe Dameron, to the iconic galaxy far, far away.

This follows the precedent set by Daisy Ridley, who at Star Wars Celebration 2023 announced her return as Rey in a new film. Fans are now buzzing with anticipation, wondering if Isaac might follow suit and reveal his involvement in upcoming projects.

The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with "Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker," and since then, Isaac's stance on returning to the franchise has evolved. Initially expressing reluctance in 2020—jokingly stating he'd only come back if he needed "another house or something"—by 2022, he told Variety that he was "open to anything," indicating a shift in his perspective.

Isaac has also voiced criticism towards Disney for rejecting his pitch for a romance between Poe and Finn, played by John Boyega, noting that the "overlords were not ready for that." Boyega, too, has expressed mixed feelings about the Sequel Trilogy and Disney, yet he remains open to future roles within the franchise.

With the upcoming Rey film set approximately 15 years after "The Rise of Skywalker," where she endeavors to rebuild the Jedi Order, there is growing speculation about the return of all three main characters from the Sequel Trilogy. Ridley has already voiced her desire for Boyega to join her, and with Isaac rounding out the trio, his return seems plausible.

While fans eagerly await definitive news at Star Wars Celebration 2025, the wait for concrete developments could be lengthy. Disney has repeatedly delayed several announced Star Wars films, including the Rey film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which now has a potential release date of December 17, 2027.
