A fun app for beginning to read and write your first German letters and words.
The ZEBRA WRITING TABLE app is part of the German textbook ZEBRA by Ernst Klett Verlag and is
conceptually aligned with it. However, it can also be used independently of the textbook. It offers a learning path with
videos, games, and various exercises. These sections illustrate the initial stages of learning written language.
This app introduces the Zebra App series for learning to read and write in German, covering years 1 to 4.
The new ZEBRA WRITING TABLE app offers exercises for spelling phonetic words using
fundamental vocabulary. Basic letter-sound associations are practiced. Misspelled words are automatically
corrected after the third incorrect attempt. By displaying both the correctly spelled word and the child's input,
children can compare and identify errors. Basic orthographic awareness is developed playfully.
The tutorial content in the two sections changes with each new app session, ensuring practice remains
engaging even after multiple uses.
The app includes the following features:

The SWINGING SYLLABLES AND WRITING section familiarizes children with the writing table and provides exercises:

The HEARING SOUNDS section focuses on phonological awareness exercises, which form the foundation for
acquiring written language skills.
This section includes these listening exercise types:
- Which word begins with...?
- Which words share the same beginning sound?
- Where do you hear the sound in the word?
- What sound does the word begin with?
The four listening exercises are available as an in-app purchase. This purchase option appears on the learning path but
is only accessible in the teacher-parent area, which is protected by a numeric security code.
This security measure prevents unauthorized in-app purchases, ensuring children cannot
accidentally purchase app extensions.
