Squares: Master the Daily Word Strand Puzzle! This strategic word game challenges you to form words by connecting letters on a grid to complete squares. Your objective? Maximize your score by uncovering as many words as possible.
Gameplay:
Connect adjacent letters in any direction—horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—to create words. Words must contain at least four letters, and each tile can only be used once per word. Hyphenated words, proper nouns, offensive terms, and uncommon words are not included in the main word list.
Scoring and Bonuses:
Each letter in a word earns you one point (a five-letter word scores five points). Beyond the main words, discover bonus words—obscure, archaic, or slang terms—which don't contribute to your score but appear on a separate list. The hunt for bonus words continues even after you've found all the main words. Each puzzle also features a "Word of the Day," a longer, special bonus word that awards two extra hints upon successful identification.
Game Features:
- Daily Puzzle: A new Squares puzzle is available every day at midnight.
- Grid Rotation: Rotate the grid left or right for a fresh perspective to help uncover hidden words.
- Letter Hints: Once you've found 40% of the words, a hint system activates. Numbers appear on each letter, indicating how many words begin with that letter (zero means no words start with that letter). Letters turning orange are no longer used in the main word list but might still be part of bonus words.
- Hints System: Each puzzle offers 3-5 hints (lightbulb icons), revealing the first letter and search direction of a random word. The number of hints depends on the puzzle's difficulty. Sharing the game link with friends grants an extra hint!
