Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each consisting of two players sitting opposite each other. The game uses a standard 52-card deck, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. Each player bids on the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team expects to win in a round.
The player who wins the bid declares "Tarneeb" and throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw the same type of paper. The player who throws the matching paper wins the trick. If a player doesn't have a matching paper, they forfeit the opportunity to declare Tarneeb. Tarneeb papers are superior to other paper types; the player who throws the strongest Tarneeb paper wins, unless a stronger Tarneeb paper is played.
The round ends when all players have played their cards. Point scoring depends on whether the bidding team achieves their target number of Allmat. If successful, they add their Allmat total to their score; the opposing team gets nothing. If unsuccessful, their score is reduced by their bid, and the opposing team adds their Allmat total to their score.
If either team wins 13 tricks without bidding for 13, they receive 16 points. If they bid for and win 13 tricks, they receive 26 points. If a team bids for 13 tricks and fails, they lose 16 points.
The game concludes when a team reaches a total score of 41 or more, at which point that team is declared the winner.
