Square Enix Announced NieR 15th Anniversary Special Novel

Square Enix marked NieR's 15th Anniversary with a flurry of announcements during the livestream on April 19. A highlight was the introduction of the online Special Novel, [U]ndecided Option. This novel will roll out in three updates, with the first already accessible. The next updates are slated for April 25 and May 2. The narrative introduces a 'servant' encountering a mysterious boy, promising an intriguing storyline.

To complement this, Square Enix has launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the special novel and other upcoming projects and events tied to the anniversary celebration.

Exhibition, Concerts, Merchandise, and More

Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork of the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other specifics will be shared soon.

Music enthusiasts can look forward to additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024 in Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are currently available via a lottery system, with more details on the concert's official website.

Re[in]carnation Developer Blog

Starting April 28, the NieR series' first mobile title, NieR Re[in]carnation, will launch a developer blog series. These monthly updates will continue through the year, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of Re[in]carnation.

Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization challenges. The decision to start a developer blog for a discontinued game has sparked speculation among fans about a possible sequel or remake, though no official announcements have been made yet.
