"Moon Knight to Return, No Season 2 Planned: Marvel Exec"

Author : Finn Update:May 02,2025

Marvel enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the return of Moon Knight to the MCU will be pleased to know that Oscar Isaac's enigmatic character is set to reappear, albeit not through a second season of the Disney+ series. Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, recently shared insights with ComicBook, revealing a shift in the division's strategy since the 2022 release of Moon Knight.

Initially, Marvel planned to use Disney+ shows to introduce characters who would later intertwine with future projects, as seen with Kamala Khan's transition from Ms. Marvel to The Marvels. However, Marvel Television has since pivoted to a more traditional TV model, focusing on annual releases. Winderbaum explained, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."

While fans can look forward to more Moon Knight, it won't be in the form of a direct sequel to the original series. Oscar Isaac did reprise his role in the animated series Marvel’s What If…? for its third and final season, but there's no confirmed news yet on his return in live-action.

Looking ahead, Marvel's TV lineup on Disney+ is robust, with confirmed releases including Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. However, Marvel Television recently hit pause on three projects: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Amidst these changes, Winderbaum teased the possibility of bringing back the street-level heroes from The Defenders—comprising Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—for a reunion.
