PlayStation Productions Unveils Ambitious Slate of Game Adaptations at CES 2025

PlayStation Productions made a significant splash at CES 2025, announcing a wave of new game adaptations set for release in 2025 and beyond. The January 7th presentation showcased a diverse range of projects, promising to expand the PlayStation universe across various media.

New Adaptations Announced:

• Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (Anime Series): A Crunchyroll and Aniplex collaboration, this anime series, directed by Takanobu Mizumo and with story composition by Gen Urobuchi, will premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Sony Music will handle the music and soundtrack.

• Horizon Zero Dawn (Film): Sony Pictures will produce this film adaptation, though details remain scarce.

• Helldivers 2 (Film): Columbia Pictures is set to produce the film adaptation of Helldivers 2. Further details are yet to be revealed.

• Until Dawn (Film): A film adaptation of Until Dawn is slated for release on April 25, 2025.

• The Last of Us Season Two (TV Series): Neil Druckmann revealed a new trailer for Season Two, expanding on the storyline of The Last of Us Part II and introducing characters like Abby and Dina.

Past Successes and Future Projects:

PlayStation Productions, established in 2019, has already achieved considerable success with adaptations like Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023), both of which performed strongly at the box office. The Twisted Metal series (Peacock, 2023) also added to their portfolio, with season two currently in post-production.

Beyond the CES announcements, PlayStation Productions continues to develop film adaptations of Days Gone and a sequel to Uncharted, along with a God of War TV series, although specifics remain limited.
